5-BrdU can be used to label DNA, which can be used in conjunction with BrdU Monoclonal Antibody for the immunohistochemical analysis of cell proliferation. Thymidine analog is used as a mutagen in genetic research. It is selectively incorporated into cellular DNA in place of thymidine during S-phase. It is also used to study cell signaling and other processes that induce cell proliferation.
