Description
Silicon(IV) nitride is used in the automobile industry as a material for engine parts such as diesel engines and glowplugs. It is used for rocker arm pads for lower wear in spark-ignition engines. Ceramics made from this show good shock resistance. Similarly bearings made from this find application in the main engines of NASA’s space shuttle. It acts as an insulator and in the manufacture of integrated circuits.
