PathoDx™ Respiratory Virus Panel Adenovirus Reagent along with RVP kit is a direct immunofluorescence test used to detect adenovirus.

Use Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ PathoDx™ Respiratory Virus Panel Adenovirus Reagent along with PathoDx Respiratory Virus Panel (RVP) kit to perform a direct immunofluorescence test for the qualitative detection of Adenovirus in prepared patient specimens following growth in cell culture. There have been 47 human serotypes identified, with most serotypes associated with respiratory or ocular infections1. Upper respiratory illness is mild. Lower respiratory disease caused by types 3, 4, 7, and 21 can result in bronchitis, croup, bronchiolitis, and pneumonia2.

Human Adenoviruses are non-enveloped, double-stranded DNA viruses belonging to the family Adenoviridae. Adenovirus infections in adults are not significant, with the exception of infections in immunocompromised hosts and occasional outbreaks in military recruit populations3,4.

  • Easy to interpret – Fluorescence is nuclear, cytoplasmic, or both. Nuclear staining is uniformly bright, and cytoplasmic staining is often punctated.

Adenovirus Reagent (Yellow cap) is one dropper bottle containing 2.0 mL (approximately 40 tests) of fluorescein-labeled purified specific murine monoclonal antibodies, and Evans blue counterstain in a protein stabilized buffer solution, with 0.098% sodium azide as a preservative.
