Description
Platinum-rhodium alloy gauze serves as a catalyst in the oxidation of the ammonia from the Haber Process by atmospheric oxygen to produce nitric oxide and subsequently nitric acid, which is used for producing nitrogen fertilizers, ammonium nitrate, adipic acid, and toluene diisocyanate (precursor for polyurethane). It has high degree of chemical inertness and stability at very high temperatures.
