They have been used for spinnerets in the manufacture of synthetic fibres, in metrology and alloy is fabrication of metal microelectrodes. It is used in electrical stimulation of nervous tissue and electrophysiological recordings. Pt/Ir alloy has been used in mechanical and electrochemical devices.
