Neomycin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic active against gram-negative bacteria. It is commonly used in many topical medications, such as creams, ointments, and eyedrops. It binds to duplex RNA with high affinity and inhibits protein biosynthesis. Neomycin sulfate also acts as a calcium channel blocker.
