  • Mechanism of Action: Aminoglycosides target the 30S ribosomal subunit resulting in an inability to read mRNA ultimately producing a faulty or non-existent protein. Resistance to aminoglycosides is due the presence of aminoglycoside-modifying enzymes (acetyltransferase, phosphotransferase, nucleotidyltransferase)
