Fetal bovine serum (FBS) has natural levels of IgG that are too high for some cell culture applications. Lots can be prescreened to find the lowest naturally occuring levels, but as a biological product, FBS is frequently in short supply. Even lots with naturally low IgG levels may still contain too much for some applications. Examples of typical IgG levels in bovine serum products can be found in the table below.

  • Performance is equivalent to non-processed FBS
  • Suitable for applications where low levels of specific antibody are required (e.g. propagation of bovine viruses, monoclonal antibody production)
