Description

Cefoperazone Sodium Salt is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Cefoperazone inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs).

This disruption interferes with the final stages of peptidoglycan synthesis in the bacterial cell wall, leading to structural instability and eventual cell lysis.

Cefoperazone is effective against a broad range of bacteria, both Gram-positive and Gram-negative. Cefoperazone Sodium Salt is often used as a selective agent in culture media to isolate bacteria that are sensitive to this antibiotic. Its inclusion allows for the specific growth of bacteria lacking resistance to cefoperazone.
