Thermo Scientific BIOS 16 & A Bioprocessing Centrifuges combine high capacity with innovative GreenCool Technology, helping ensure flexible, high-throughput bioprocessing while reducing environmental impact. Offering up to 16 L capacity per run with a wide range of bottles and bioprocess container.

Thermo Scientific BIOS 16 and BIOS A Centrifuges are high-capacity centrifuges specifically designed for large-capacity and bioprocessing applications. These innovative floor-standing instruments incorporate GreenCool Technology, utilizing a natural CO2 refrigerant cooling system that complies with upcoming EU and US EPA F-gas regulations. This refrigerant boasts a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 1, significantly reducing the environmental impact of centrifuge operation. Additionally, GreenCool technology offers reduced energy consumption, reducing operational costs, rapid cool-down times, and excellent temperature stability.

Available in two models, these centrifuges offer the flexibility to select higher capacity rotors or match existing workflows, with a choice of nine Thermo Scientific rotors:

  • BIOS 16: Capacity of up to 8 x 2L. Maximum speed/ RCF: 5,400 rpm/ 8,500 x g, supporting a variety of bottles, tubes and bioprocess containers
  • BIOS A: Capacity of up to 10 x 1L. Maximum speed/ RCF: 6,250 rpm/ 12,000 x g, supporting 1L bottles, with Fiberlite rotor

Both models are made in Germany, a certified zero-waste facility using 100% renewable energy.

The BIOS series provides outstanding capacity for large-volume processing while maintaining user-friendly operation and global compliance standards. Enhanced ergonomics, reduced noise levels, and lighter weight contribute to an improved laboratory environment. The centrifuges are compatible with various rotors, buckets, liners, adapters, consumables, and software, offering a comprehensive solution for efficient and sustainable bioprocessing in modern facilities.
