Description

Used in the cultivation of fastidious and nonfastidious microorganisms. BD Difco™ Bacto™ Brain Heart Infusion is a general-purpose medium used to cultivate aerobic and anaerobic bacteria from a variety of clinical and nonclinical materials.

BHI broth is used for the cultivation of a wide variety of microorganisms, including bacteria (streptococci, pneumococci and meningococci), yeasts and molds. It serves as a base for supplemented media containing 0.1% agar, Fildes enrichment or 6.5% sodium chloride.

  • To use dehydrated product: suspend 37g in 1L of purified water
  • Displays a good cultural response to Neisseria meningitides 13090, Streptococcus pneumonia 6305 and Streptococcus pyogenes 19615
  • pH (3.7% solution, 25°C): 7.4 ± 0.2
