It is used in agriculture as a high-nitrogen fertilizer. It is one of the main components of ammonium nitrate/fuel oil (ANFO). ANFO is used in coal mining, quarrying, metal mining, and civil construction. It is also used as an oxidizer in solid rocket propellants.
