Description

Assess optical path differences in birefringent specimens. Motic™ 1/4 Lambda Plate can be used to detect optical path differences of (plus or minus) one-half wavelength and produce circularly polarized light by inserting it into the optical path above the polarizer.

  • Commonly employed for qualitative retardation measurements of petrographic specimens (rock and mineral thin sections) or other birefringent materials whose retardation value falls within the wedge limits.
  • Turn plane-polarized light into circularly polarized light and vice-versa.
